ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
England topped their group to advance to the knockout stages of Euro 2024 but they did it in unconvincing fashion. They flattered to deceive in their win over Serbia and were underwhelming in the draws with Denmark and Slovenia. While Slovakia came third in their group, ex-Liverpool centre-back Skrtel thinks his native Slovakia may not have a better chance than this to finally beat England.

WHAT MARTIN SKRTEL SAID
He told : "I watched two games against Denmark and Slovenia and I've got to say I was surprised and also a little bit disappointed. I expected a little bit more from England's side and I think they could do much, much better. We know they're quality and the tournament is just starting now because it's about the one game at the moment. It's going to be very difficult for us but if I can say this is the right moment for us to play against England, because our team are performing really well and full of confidence. If we can (ever) beat England, it would be this time."

THE BIGGER PICTURE
While England were runners-up in the last Euros to Italy, Slovakia have failed to reach the quarter-finals of a major tournament. Moreover, they have never beaten the Three Lions, losing five and drawing one of their six encounters. But, they will feel optimistic about upsetting Gareth Southgate's men this weekend.
